The mission of the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions (JPBI) is to extend the research and practice of positive behavioral supports (PBS) for individuals in school, home, and community settings, with a focus on comprehensive outcomes in the lives of children, youth, and adults. In the first issue of JPBI in 1999, inaugural editors Drs. Koegel and Dunlap introduced JPBI as a collective format where knowledge is to be shared to improve quality of life for people with behavioral needs and the lives of caregivers, service providers, and other stakeholders. In 2002, Carr and colleagues amplified these aims and reminded us that JBPI is a space for the scholarship of positive interventions focused on skill acquisition, competency development, and environmental modification to support positive outcomes while also decreasing challenging behaviors. As the incoming Co-Editors-in Chief of JPBI, we hold central this mission of extending research and practice of PBS for individuals in school, home, and community settings while keeping JPBI at the forefront of PBS innovation and application.
