The field of alkene difunctionalization is undergoing vigorous advancement with a primary focus on two key aspects: the innovation of new reagents and the exploration of novel reaction sites. Recently in Nature, Maulide and co-workers reported a general and synthetically useful methodology for the stereodivergent 1,3- difunctionalization of unactivated alkenes via a charge-relocation pathway.
